The official downloaders guide to TAG utilities
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
This text is published in the hope that TAG sysops will be able to
quickly find the utility that they are looking for. If your TAG
utility was not published in this edition please contact me at Dirty
Deeds Downloads (See above). Generally I will include all the utilites
that I can find on A*R*T*H*U*R (1:120/120) or The Black Hole (1:120/36)
both TAG Alpha sites. I have left out some utilities from the list
because they became outdated by the new release of T.A.G. or did nothing
that couldn't be done equally or better with another utility. Many of
the files detailed here can be Freq'd from any of the three BBSs
mentioned. I have completly re-done the list from the past two versions
and I think most of the changes that I made are improvments. If you
have any suggestions let me know.
I will try to maintain this listing, but due to the large number of TAG
utilities released each day I cannot guarantee that your utility will be
included. I also cannont guarantee any of the files included in this
listing will operate as stated and I except no responsibility for any
damage they may cause. As with all programs you download, be careful
and keep a backup handy.
Note: All files listed should work with Tag v2.6 / as a general rule
file section utilites and general operation utilities will be
compatible with earlier versions, but due to the complete
overhaul of the message section in TAG v2.6 most message area
utilities will not.

Key to listing
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Filename : File name of the latest release version of the program.
Extensions are listed as xxx because archiving methods
vary from BBS to BBS and from region to region.
Description : Short description of the programs use.
Author(s) : Real name of the author but alternatively the handle of
the author where the real name was not available.
Support(s) : BBS Support sites, all phone numbers are BBS data lines,
where possible the fido address and name of the BBS were
also given. Obviously BBSs come and go so none of this
information is guaranteed to be correct at this time.
Operation : The operation of the utility as determined by personal
testing or through the documentation. Where possible I
tested the utility but due to time and feasibility
constraints all of the files could not be tested. Files
that were not tested have a [NOT TESTED] designation
before the description of operation.

that hang up early.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Filename : COMSTAT1.xxx

Operation : Converts Telegard directory files to T.A.G. directory

truncate the telegard verbose descriptions, but that's due
to the differing structures.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Filename : DCQWK1-1.xxx
Description : QWK Mail packing door - RA and Fido message support
Author(s) : Daniel Corbeau
Support(s) : (1:167/115) 514/425-2276
Operation : This seems to be the first offline mail packer designed
to directly interface with TAG v2.6. It took very little
work to setup, and is relatively easy to use. It contains
a few small bugs, but future releases are imminent and the
support and response has been excellent.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Filename : DISP16.xxx

Operation : When a user enters a door it checks to see if maitenance

people but it could be useful.

Operation : [NOT TESTED] - I didn't test this one but I know of alot
of people that have gotten it to work. It essentially
allows you to run two BBSs in one. You could have your
Adult set up under one BBS and your regular files under
another, etc. With a little effort you could probably run
three or four boards with this.

editor and delete it.

Filename : FLAGBINK.xxx
Description : Toggles the Binkley flag in tag on and off from an EXE file
Author(s) : Robert Numerick
Board(s) : N/A
Operation : [NOT TESTED] - This program is used to change the system
status to use Binkley for a front end. Or to toggle it

again from a Binkley event after the national mail hour to
turn the front end off again.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

from the CALLERS.LOG and LASTON.DAT files. Users will
not be able to see that you just logged on so they won't
be mad when the chat call is off. Also adds ctrl-p color

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Filename : MSGFD21B.xxx

Filename : MLIST20.xxx
Description : Powerful and Flexible user lister
Author(s) : Eric Harvey
Board(s) : Just For Fun BBS (1:264/610) 804/793-6094
Operation : This is the most flexible user lister I have seen. It
allows you to create a text file containing the
information you choose for a group of users that choose.
Among others it allows you to limit by SL, AR Flags, Days
since last on, and whether they are in your local calling
area or whether they are long distance. Once you choose
what group of users to list you have to choose what info
to list for those users. This program allows you to list
most of the user fields, in any order you want, on one or
multiple lines. If this wasn't enough, it's fast.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Filename : MONTH.xxx
Description : Renames usage.log and archives it monthly
Author(s) : Tim Mallery

Operation : [NOT TESTED] - MrSysop runs your DOS environment when a
caller or co-sysop is on line and at your DOS level. It
replaces your command.com by simulating your DOS
environment and allowing you full control over what the
user can and can't do. It not only dis-allows the commands
of your choice from being executed, but you can protect
certain files from being accessed in any way, and protect
any drive or directory on your hard drive from being
accesed by the caller. It also logs all of the caller's
actions into a log file that shows the time, date, and
commands the user entered at the DOS prompt.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Filename : PUMACONV.xxx
Description : An interface for T.A.G. and the Puma protocol
Author(s) : David Behnke
Boards(s) : Space Dock (1:120/160) 313/795-9277
Operation : [NOT TESTED] - It reads tags temporary file listing and
the log puma creates. Then it verifies files from the
temporary file with that of the puma created one. If it
finds a match, it writes to a 3rd file with the newly
converted data, that way, T.A.G can tell if a file was
transfered correctly, finally the 2nd file is deleted,
the 3rd file gets renamed to the 2nd file's name and
there you have it.

Filename : SDS2TAG.xxx
Description : Converts FILES.BBS to T.A.G. .DIR files for use with SDS
Author(s) : Donald Slade
Board(s) : (1:3614/501)
Operation : [NOT TESTED] - The purpose of this utility is to convert
the popular FILES.BBS file to the random access format
file that TAG uses. This program was written to convert
the FILES.BBS file to a TAG directory file when operating
a SDS file point. It reads the FILES.BBS that the TICK
program creates and updates the TAG directory listing.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Filename : SDS_120.xxx
Description : Essentially does the same as above with more frills
Author(s) : Michael VanderVeer
Board(s) : N/A
Operation : [NOT TESTED] - SDS2DIR will read your TICK Configuration
file to find the file echo areas you have. It is capable
of storing up to 100 file echo areas. It will then search
the area marked as IN in that configuration file for any
TIC or FLE files that may exist. If there is one, the
file will be read. The Area tag will then be searched
for in the area lists to find the area path. The
FBOARDS.DAT file is then searched for that path. From
there the file is added to the DIR file defined. Should
the directory file be listed with the @ symbol, SDS2DIR
will search for the file in the path the FBOARDS.DAT file
is in. When a file is added to the DIR file, it will be
added to the top of the TAG listings as TAG does.
